Renewal of faith: Destiny Church Baptism Weekend unites families
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! – 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)
This is what I won’t let Happen:
1. LET SOMEONE ELSE TALK ME OUT OF GETTING BAPTIZED
Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. 14 But John tried to talk him out of it. “I am the one who needs to be baptized by you,” he said, “so why are you coming to me?”15 But Jesus said, “It should be done, for we must carry out all that God requires. ” So John agreed to baptize him. – Matthew 3:13-15 (NLT)
2. LET MY OLD LIFE TALK ME OUT FROM RECIEVEING MY NEW LIFE
Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? 4 For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.5 Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. 6 We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. 7 For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. 8 And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him. – Romans 6:3-8 (NLT)
WHAT TAKES PLACE AT BAPTISM?
1. I go from SHOWING my Problems to SOWING my Problems
2. I turn my LOSS into my CROSS
WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO ME TODAY?
3. IT WILL BE THE MARKING POINT OF YOUR NEW YOU
Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires. 13 Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. – Romans 6:12-13 (NLT)
