After this, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly, for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took the body of Jesus. 39 And Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds. 40 Then they took the body of Jesus, and bound it in strips of linen with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury. 41 Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid. 42 So there they laid Jesus, because of the Jews’ Preparation Day, for the tomb was nearby. – JOHN 19:38-42 (NKJ)

60 and laid it in his new tomb which he had hewn out of the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb, and departed. 61 And Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting opposite the tomb. – MATTHEW 27:57-61 (NKJ)

WHAT IS THIS OIL AND WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT?

Moreover the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 23 “Also take for yourself quality spices—five hundred shekels of liquid myrrh, half as much sweet-smelling cinnamon (two hundred and fifty shekels), two hundred and fifty shekels of sweet-smelling cane, 24 five hundred shekels of cassia, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, and a hin of olive oil – EXODUS 30:22-24 (NKJ)

1. MYRRH – Used for preparation of buriel  - Speak of Death

2. CINNAMON – Flavors, Brings sweetness and rises up – Speaks of how God sweetens your life and Rises you Up!

3. CANE – It grows & lives in tough soil and has to be beaten to get the best out of it – This Speaks of the World that we live in and the trials it brings us that beats our faith but Brings the best out of us!

4. CASSIA – Grows at an elevation of 8,000 or Higher – This speaks of us when were anointed to live at a Higher Altitude then the rest.

5.  OIL – Holiness

But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. – 1 John 2:20 (NKJ)

But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you – 1 John 2:27 (NKJ)

1. THE ANOINTING IS GIVEN TO YOU TO FILL UP EMPTY VESSELS & LIVE IN OVERFLOW

A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, “Your servant my husband (PROVIDER) is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord. And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves.”2 So Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said, “Your maidservant has nothing (FIRST RESPONSE) in the house but a jar of oil.”3 Then he said, “Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors—empty vessels; do not gather just a few (EXPAND YOUR THINKING). 4 And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones.”5 So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured it out. 6 Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.” And he said to her, “There is not another vessel.” So the oil ceased. 7 Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest.” – 2 Kings 4:1-7 (NKJ)

2.  THE ANOINTING IS GIVEN TO YOU TO DESTORY ALL YOKES AND KEEP YOU FREE

 It shall come to pass in that day That his burden will be taken away from your shoulder,?And his yoke from your neck,?And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil. – ISAIAH 10:27 (NKJ)
